Abstract
Reason is one of the fundamental concepts of the semantic system of the Holy Quran, and its study can clarify the relationship between perception, guidance, and human action. However, in some studies, this concept has been studied based on later philosophical and theological definitions, and there has been insufficient distinction between the Quranic use of derivatives of the noun "reason" and later idiomatic uses. The main issue of this study is to discover the semantic core of reasoning in the Holy Quran and explain its semantic connections. The premise of the study is that the meaning of words is obtained not only from their lexical meaning, but also from their use in sentences and the context of verses, as well as from their connections and contrasts with other words. The study was conducted using a descriptive-analytical method and within the framework of structural semantics, with an emphasis on the Izutsu method. ance-oriented process that is related to understanding signs, accepting the truth, freeing oneself from following one’s own desires, and achieving success. This concept also finds meaning in connection with knowledge, remembrance, guidance, success, and piety, and in contrast to ignorance, negligence, and egotism. Therefore, reasoning in the Quranic horizon is a kind of responsible perception that is realized in human choice and behavior.
